Religious Education
At Riverside Academy, pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of the key religions:
- Christianity
- Buddhism
- Hinduism
- Islam
- Judaism
- Sikhism
At Riverside Academy, we follow the SACRE Warwickshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
A range of teaching methods are employed for RE lessons, including opportunities for pupils to develop their responses through visits to local places of worship, Art, Drama and Cooking.
In every year groups, visits to places of worship are arranged. The school has developed a partnership with the local church, St Botolph's. Pupils take part in celebrations such as Harvest Festival and Christmas services in the church, as well as visiting the church to explore aspects of the RE syllabus.
Pupils also enjoy opportunities to take part in workshops and themed days aimed to enhance their understanding of cultures other than Christianity. For example, the whole school took part in a series of workshops organised by staff to explore the Hindu Festival of Light.
